Lauren Mitchell’s Testimonial

“As someone who has been training their instrument, and sharpening their skills for almost 40 years, I am always looking for ways to continue to make the work I do with my voice better (and also easier). Whether I’m working in the studio recording, at a live performance, or practicing at home, I’ve found Third Rail Electric’s “Pocket Rocket” resonator to be a wonderful tool to assist me!

I won’t lie, it took me a bit to really hone in on what I could really do with it, but once I found my own personal “sweet spot”, I was HOOKED.

For me, the “sweet spot” is where I hear myself more clearly, and can FEEL the vibrations of the pitches I’m singing more deeply within my body (which is my instrument, as a vocalist). Feeling into the resonance & physical vibrations the Pocket Rocket creates, enables me to perfect my pitch, and to really dig in (especially my lower register) when I’m singing. I’ve found another whole step in my range down there that I didn’t know I had until using this device!

I’ll never truly know what I sound like to my audiences, but I believe that when I use the Pocket Rocket, I hear myself more in the way the audience does, than what I *think* I sound like in my head; and when I hear myself THAT way, I know I give a better performance.

Combining the pocket rocket with the tunable cable from Third Rail, had opened my ears even more!

Having that cable extension plugged in directly to my mic during a live performance was an absolute revelation! It was like having my own personal EQ right there on the stage. A little more low end for some extra punch on those gut-bucket blues tunes … A little more high end for the jazz standards that need to float a bit …. And it was all right there at the end of my mic. No need to ask the sound tech for any help and interrupt the show. I was able to adjust the highs and lows in between songs easily and quickly (and without distracting my audience) based on what I knew my voice would need for each song.

Making music should be fun and enjoyable for everyone on the stage and in the audience. When I feel like I have more control over the music and sound I’m making, I’m also having more fun … and that means my audience is also enjoying themselves more. Thanks to Third Rail Electric, I can be sure I’m giving the people who are listening to me sing, the best I can deliver.
